The contributors listed on the tax return include billionaire Republican megadonor Jeff Yass, who Accuracy in Media said gave it $1 million. The family foundation of shipping supply magnate Richard Uihlein is also identified on the tax return, which says the Ed Uihlein Family Foundation gave $10,000. According to its tax return, Accuracy in Media said it received $15,000 from the Coors brewing family's charitable foundation. But AIM president Adam Guillette told CNBC Yass had been misidentified, and he did not give to the organization. Nonprofit groups are not required to release their donors' names publicly, but they are required to report to the IRS the names of donors who gave $5,000 or more.

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Tech firms including TikTok, Snapchat and Stability AI have signed a joint statement pledging to work together to counter child sex abuse images generated by artificial intelligence. "We resolve to sustain the dialogue and technical innovation around tackling child sexual abuse in the age of AI," the statement read. "We resolve to work together to ensure that we utilise responsible AI for tackling the threat of child sexual abuse and commit to continue to work collaboratively to ensure the risks posed by AI to tackling child sexual abuse do not become insurmountable." Britain cited data from the Internet Watch Foundation showing that in one dark web forum users had shared nearly 3,000 images AI generated child sexual abuse material.

NEW YORK (AP) — The already-alarming proliferation of child sexual abuse images on the internet could become much worse if something is not done to put controls on artificial intelligence tools that generate deepfake photos, a watchdog agency warned on Tuesday. In a written report, The U.K.-based Internet Watch Foundation urges governments and technology providers to act quickly before a flood of AI-generated images of child sexual abuse overwhelms law enforcement investigators and vastly expands the pool of potential victims. If it isn’t stopped, the flood of deepfake child sexual abuse images could bog investigators down trying to rescue children who turn out to be virtual characters. “That is just incredibly shocking.”Sexton said his charity organization, which is focused on combating online child sexual abuse, first began fielding reports about abusive AI-generated imagery earlier this year. It particularly targets the European Union, where there's a debate over surveillance measures that could automatically scan messaging apps for suspected images of child sexual abuse even if the images are not previously known to law enforcement.

A Calvert fund is giving investors a sustainable way to play this year's technology rebound. The firm's U.S. Large Cap Growth Responsibility Index (CGJAX) is up 27% this year, rallying in near harmony with growth stocks. 'Consistent approach' Fitting of any growth fund, a handful of large tech names are among the biggest holdings as of June 30, per Morningstar. "This fund still offers a broadly diversified option for investors looking for a balance between ESG and growth stocks," Tran wrote when rating the fund at the end of last year. The fund also benefits from having a more data-driven approach to picking stocks, Huang wrote.

April 29 (Reuters) - Ukraine are at risk of losing quota places for Olympic weightlifting at the Paris 2024 Games after a third athlete was provisionally suspended due to an anti-doping rule violation, Inside The Games reported. The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), which would decide on any such punishment, did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment. By IWF rules an independent panel may withdraw quota places for both men and women if three sanctions are handed out for doping violations by athletes or others in one member federation within a 12-month period. Ukraine won eight medals at the recently concluded European Weightlifting Championships in Armenia, including two golds. The country has said it would boycott the Olympics Games if Russians and Belarusians are allowed to compete, even as neutrals, following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine last year.
Tech stocks with healthy cash flow have been the big winners so far this year, and those names are also dominating the growth indexes. One way to dial back your exposure to mega-cap tech while keeping bets on growth is through mid-cap growth ETFs, according to Citi. Another benefit of the mid-cap growth area is that is not as reliant on tech stocks as the large-cap growth bucket, he added. The Citi note highlighted several ETFs that track the mid-cap growth space, including the iShares Russell Mid-Cap Growth ETF (IWP) , the Vanguard Mid-Cap Growth ETF (VOT) , and the Invesco Nasdaq Next Gen 100 ETF (QQQJ) . These funds do have less concentrated exposure than other popular growth ETFs.
The Vanguard Growth ETF (VUG) has blown past one of its closest competitor from iShares, the S & P 500 Growth ETF (IVW) . The Vanguard fund has a total return of 7.96% this year, while the iShares fund has returned just 3.15%, according to FactSet. The Vanguard funds track the growth indexes from CRSP, while iShares S & P 500 follows products from S & P Dow Jones. Since IT has done well this year and energy has not, ETFs tracking S & P indices have underperformed growth ETFs tracking other indices," Ullal wrote. Meanwhile, the iShares S & P fund has more than a 4% combined weighting in ExxonMobil and Chevron .

It has been a year to forget for growth stocks. This also marks the first time since 2016 that growth has lagged value, comparing the growth ETF to the iShares Russell 1000 Value ETF (IWD) . Growth stocks are characterized by those that tend to trade on the expectation of strong earnings expansion over several years in the future, rather than here and now. Despite this tough year, analysts expect big gains from some growth companies in 2023. More than three-quarters of analysts covering ChargePoint rate it a buy, while Plug Power has buy ratings from nearly two-thirds of analysts covering it.
The IWF , its growth counterpart, has dropped 28% in that time, while the S & P 500 has fallen nearly 20%. This would mark the first time since 2016 that the IWD outpaces both the S & P 500 and IWF since 2016. The stock is trading at a slight discount relative to the S & P 500 and has buy ratings from three-quarters of analysts covering it. Mattel also made the list, with a price-to-earnings ratio of 10 and buy ratings from 73% of analysts. The stock is one the best performers in the S & P 500 for 2022, gaining more than 70% as investors have piled into the energy sector this year.

These sites often included links for users to pay via crypto exchanges, the IWF told Reuters, declining to name companies. “For those people looking to make money from child sexual abuse, crypto has lowered the barrier,” said Dan Sexton, the IWF’s chief technology officer. The Dark Scandals website, owned by Michael Mohammad, instructs users to send tokens to a Dark Scandals digital wallet to purchase content. While banks and payment platforms demanded more details from online merchants, many crypto exchanges for years requested little or no information from clients. The IWF received more reports last year of websites selling child abuse imagery for crypto than any year prior.
The U.S. Justice Department, in a report this September, said many crypto exchanges still "make little or no effort to comply" with know-your-customer requirements. These sites often included links for users to pay via crypto exchanges, the IWF told Reuters, declining to name companies. While banks and payment platforms demanded more details from online merchants, many crypto exchanges for years requested little or no information from clients. Asked at his trial for his opinion of crypto, Mohammad noted, "Privacy is something that a lot of users value." The IWF received more reports last year of websites selling child abuse imagery for crypto than any year prior.
That means that market rates could fall, even if the Fed continues to hike for the next few months. Bond yields move opposite of price, so the ETFs should go up in value. There are several large ETFs on the market focused on Treasurys, including the iShares' 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF (IEF) and 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) . Similarly, Vanguard offers the Intermediate-Term Treasury ETF (VGIT) , which has a fee of just 0.04%. Corporate bonds carry more risk than Treasurys, but should rally if Treasury yields fall.
Amazon quietly donated $400,000 to a conservative nonprofit last year as the group pushed back on antitrust bills being considered in Congress, according to documents reviewed by CNBC. The donation is tied for the second-highest contribution listed on the documents showing last year's top donors to the conservative nonprofit. She wrote, "antitrust efforts such as this bill, are not protecting consumers, but reducing their choices and driving up prices." The Independent Women's Forum was also among 30 organizations that co-signed an Oct. 2021 open letter to Senate lawmakers pushing back on antitrust legislation. We have highlighted our concerns about big tech censorship and publicly criticized what we see as censorship of conservative views.
